Sophisticated Simplicity

The space was essentially meant to be designed for a ‘luxury hospitality traveller’, where every inch of the home looks as luxurious as they come. The client was keen on maintaining a look that portrayed the same. Inspired by the interiors of luxury hospitality spaces, we started digging a little deeper into adding a few personal touches to make it all more cozy. Of course, we had to find the perfect balance between classic and contemporary; so while the overall design was textbook, we experimented with the furniture and decor. When it came to each piece of decor and furniture, we placed special emphasis on textures, patterns and shapes. To bring more life into each part of the living room, we played around with textures on the wall panelling as well. We maintained the pairing of marble and veneer throughout the space—adding that extra touch of our own personal aesthetic here. The overall area is 5,098 sq ft; an ideal size for a space located in North of Bangalore. The blueprint was created in such a way that the space had a lot of potential in terms of design. With perfect views of the flyover connecting from the airport to the city, the space was made for the suburban, reserved feel. As perfect as it seemed, to make room for the client’s expectations and our plan and vision, we had to make some minor structural improvisations. Considering the location and placement of windows and doors, we decided to break down the wall connecting the dining area with the kitchen. This paved the way for an abundance of natural light within the space and enabled us to experiment with different colors and styles too. The kitchen was designed keeping in mind the client’s vision of a chic and modern home. We went with matte lacquered cabinetry—an evergreen design—to maintain the minimalism throughout. The addition of high-end appliances was the cherry on top of the perfect kitchen we had in mind. To complete it all with a few statement products in the dining room, we managed to balance ours and the client’s vision for the same. The elevator opens up to the foyer panelled with a beautiful areka finished marble and arched veneer. We wanted to make the absolutely gorgeous areka finished marble to be the star of the show as soon as you enter the home.

As you walk further into the living room, you can see the classic set up with the furniture. A colour palette of neutrals with pops of gold and mustard, the living room is a chic space. The foundation of it all, however, epitomises contemporary design. To begin with, the room is panelled with olive root travertine marble and arched veneer. A bone in lay coffee table, a side table and gold chairs for Nama Home. The golden, mustard and yellow was evenly sprinkled throughout the room with the furniture and decor to bring out and balance the neutrals without being harsh on the eyes. The same theme is followed for the dining room and kitchen too. As you enter the kitchen and dining area, you see that the same furniture and decor inspiration is used here as well. Although we used a bit of gold and mustard here, we added a few indoor plants to liven up the space bit more. The natural light and the plants really brought a very calming, relaxing presence to the space as well. A long corridor leads us to the bedrooms, on the way to the bedrooms we come across the family living. The family living has a very subdued and sultry feel, with silver coloured silk paneled walls and a brass finished cladding. Keeping in mind the theme of all the common areas, the bone-inlay furniture is used again for the coffee and the side table. The family living has a very inviting and tactile feel to the space.

Moving on to the rooms—the master bedroom, to begin with—it was panelled with marble and grooved Veneer panels for a minimal look. With tinted glass and hanging lights on either sides the bed, we maintained a warm, soothing colour palette to ensure a comforting feel. The walk-in closet, however, is a little subdued with molten metal brass frames backlit with warm LED lights. The lights surely do spruce it up a bit, creating a perfect contrast yet maintaining the overall look for the room. For the first daughter’s room, we maintained a similar style with coloured veneer panels with grooved but experimented with the tones a bit here. With light shades of grey and beige, the interior of this room screams sophisticated simplicity. We added pops of colour in the quaint corners of the room to bring out the simple tones of the entire room. The panels used in this room create a very neat, sophisticated feel, adding on to the client’s expectations of keeping up with luxury hospitality interiors. The next room, for the other daughter, with a little bit of a chic style was a little different from the rest. Here, instead of neutrals, we went with a gorgeous pastel shade of rose pink. Keeping with the overall style of the entire space, this room was the classic girl’s room with a vanity on the side next to the window, a hanging light to maintain the theme of the home and the same golden chair to add on to the chic style. Lastly, the guest room was kept very clean and neat. A cosy feeling panel with MDF boards and monochromatic greys, building on to our classic and contemporary theme. We also added an indoor plant here to match the green-grey decor and balance it all.
