Ode to Spring

The apartment’s striking entry sets a spring themed tone to the space. The arched wallcovering by Armani known as madeleine with fern leaves design and a custom ceiling with gold leafing exhibits the luxury of the space. The foyer mingles with the capacious living and dining room, predominantly ruled by a classical inspired veneer panelling with brass detailing. The chic furniture designed has a touch of modernization yet gives a sense of timelessness. The furniture consists of subtle shades of salmon and cream, the accent furniture pieces are the ottomans with Indian inspired cow printed fabric. The décor and the lights display the theme of fall in the space, precisely showcasing spring flowers and leaves. The Master bedroom comprises of beaded panels with gold leafing. The panels are layered with aurielle fabric revealing a picturesque landscape with trees and flowers. The wardrobes are finished with leather and brass beading. Very subtle and classical take on season of fall inspired theme. The Grandparents bedroom is minimal but classical. It consists of a simple wallpaper with an abstract leaf pattern and hue shaded curtains. The Daughter’s room is the boldest and dramatizes the whole space. It is young and vivid with a combination of greens and pinks. The Son’s room is very clean and modern. It comprises of fluted veneer panelling with an industrial finish. This is the only room that has swayed away from the theme of fall, yet showcases immutable industrial design.

The space exhibits timeless classical design. I believe that the design displays staying power; Something that is not only considered elegant today but will also be relevant in the future. While the loose furniture in the space can be substituted according to the ongoing trend, the space especially the wall panelling will ceaselessly flaunt the classical look.

The apartment being situated in the heart of the city, the aim of my design was to steer away from the bustling city life. The space is inspired by nature and the intention was to bring in outdoor space indoors. The animal centrepiece in the living room and the cushions with animal prints traces back to the heritage roots of Indian culture. The tropical wallpaper in the daughter’s room and the ukiyo-e (pictures of the floating world) art inspired wall cushioning in the master bed room displays the theme of fall. The living and dining has chandleries with leaf motifs on them with a touch of gold to add luxury to the space.
