Liberated Quintessence

The Living Room is a combination of classic and contemporary. We wanted to re-conceptualize the idea of traditional design. The usage of a light pistachio green as a backdrop allowed us to experiment with a pop of colour such as red, browns, greens and tiny bit of yellow. The different forms on the Art are layered by the usage of colour.

The philosophy behind designing this space was to view it as a sculptural and a formidable architectural still life. The idea was to define the space with simple and defined mouldings and playing with the idea of distorting the space through furniture and Art by the use of cubist elements. The Art here plays a vital role in architecture, as a still life.

The materials used are a juxtaposition of elements that are rich and grainy and velvety in texture. The mint green velvet sofa, defined by a symmetrical stitching pattern, is placed next to a gritty bright red lounge chair. The delicately made brass lights and the curtain tiebacks bring a sense of warmth and depth to the space.

The master bedroom has a very feminine and an elegant colour pallet. The design follows the same philosophy as the living room. The upholstered headboard provides a definition to the space, which is then distorted through the golden inlays.

In the Son’s bedroom, the contrast within the space is really brought out through the strokes and textures used. While the light teal textured paint displays eccentric strokes, the wood panels next to it exhibits linear movement. Consequently, the asymmetrical headboard and the placement of paintings in the Daughter’s bedroom, contrasts the precision in the detailing of vintage cane wardrobes. The flower pendant lamp made out of banana paper concludes, by visually balancing the space.
